Newspaper PublishingA Prevalence of PollingThis archived discussion is "read only" due to the absence of an active Feature Writer/moderator for this topic.
» Brent Sedo - Polls Hi, "How is it that a poll like this one can garner such attention and command?" I think you answered your own question. It was a Globe & Mail, CTV poll, and it was the front page of the G&M and lead on CTV. They're just trying to create their own news. Any poll, you have to ask, "who's doing the polling, and what's their agenda?" And get your news from multiple sources. » Kate82 - Polls In response to Polls posted by BrentSedo:Hi Brent, I definitly agree that news outlets create polls such as this one in order to generate a good lead story. At the same time, I think that as news consumers, we are somewhat responsible for the success of these 'poll stories' because we are interested in how other Canadians supposedly feel about the issue at hand. If we demanded news that really examined issues, and I truly believe newspapers and news stations would have to respond accordingly. -- posted by Kate82
